Using BlackBoard for CIS 102 Homework

Remember that homework assignments will always be on the class page.  You will create a document for your answers, probably in Word, Powerpoint, or Excel, and save that document.  When you are finished, then use BlackBoard to turn your work in.

Navigating BlackBoard

You can get into Blackboard by logging in directly or by logging into OwlNet.  If going through OwlNet, go to the My Courses tab and click the link for CIS 102.  You will now be in BlackBoard.

In Blackboard, under My Courses, click the link for CIS 102.  You will now be in the CIS 102 Blackboard page.

Along the left side you will see a menu.  If the menu is not visible, it may be collapsed; you can reinflate it using the small arrow at the edge of the page.

The Homework link in this menu will take you to where you turn in homework.  On the Homework page you will see a link to the assignment (e.g. HWK 1).

Submitting Answers

Clicking on the link will take you to the assignment page.

If you see a button on the right that says "Continue" but no place to attach your work, click the Continue button

.

Next click the Browse My Computer button and find the place where you saved your homework file.  You may need to attach more than one file before submitting.  Once you have submitted, your file(s) should show up inside blackboard (it may say "Generating Preview" for a little while before it shows up.)  Please make sure that your document displays correctly!!  If not, you may need to go back and re-edit your document before submitting again.  What you see in Blackboard is what I see.  If you can't see your answers, neither can I.

Resubmitting

If you need to change your answers, go to the link for the assignment in the Assignments page again.  At the bottom right (you may have to scroll) you should see a Start New Submission button.
